Kansas: "2005 KAW VALLEY FARM TOUR - Lawrence, Kansas. On October 1st and 2nd from
1-5 PM both days Maggie's Farm will participate in this great agri-event. A sheep-to-shawl

time the sheep will see the process their wool goes through to complete a handspun, woven

Maryland: "Third Thursdays of each month, all are invited to join the rug hookers who
gather at Forestheart Studio in Woodsboro (near Frederick). Meetings generally run 10 or 11 am

This Beginner's Weaving Workshop will be held at Iron Horse Farm from 10 to 4 p.m. both
days. Registration is necessary. Rental looms and fiber will be supplied as part of the two
day course. This is for beginner's who have never worked with a loom, and for people who need a
refresher course. We will be working on mug rugs using different techniques and each student
will dress their own loom. Class is limited to 6 people, so please register early. The fee

Massachusetts: "Sherborn, MA: Advance Beginner's Weaving Workshop! March 12 & 13,
2005. An Advanced Beginner's Weaving Workshop held at Iron Horse Farm, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both
days. Rental Looms and fiber will be supplied as part of the two day course. Completion of
the Beginning Weaving workshop or equivalent weaving experience is a prerequisite for this
course. We will be working with chenille yarns and each participant will make a scarf. During
this class students will learn to calculate the project yarn and size requirements, determine
appropriate setts for the chosen yarn, wind their own warp and dress their loom. Once their
projects are off the loom students will choose their own edge finishing technique. Class is
limited to 6 people, so please register early. The fee for this workshop and lunch is $225.00.

Massachusetts: "We call ourselves The Roving Spinners. We are located in Western
Massachusetts (Worthington, Cummington, Plainfield, Ashfield area) Our group is VERY informal.
There are about 14-20 members and we get together to spin, knit, crochet, play with fiber, drink
tea, eat treats, and talk. We meet every other Tuesday evening at about 7ish pm and break off
somewhere between 9 and 10 pm and rotate houses, although members don't have to host a meeting
if they can't or don't want to. (For instance, my house is far too loud and infested with many
wonderful children, dogs, and other assorted beasties, including my oldest boy's pet rooster in
the kitchen. Spinning group is never at my house {;>} We have a meeting this evening (3/20/01)
and that means every other Tuesday from today, but sometimes it changes Tuesdays if the weather

We are a brand new guild, only started this summer but we have already established a full and varied programme with our first session on kumihimo braiding and with future sessions to include weaving, spinning, dyeing, knitting and other textile-related sessions. Next month, for example, we are undertaking a "Hebridean Challenge" with fleece sent out from one of our members in Scotland and will be using this fleece towards a rare breeds rug next year.
